The Latest...

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

On Thursday, I'll be appearing on Fangs, Fur, & Fey's First Book in a Series Podcast on Blog Talk Radio (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/) It's a call-in show, and your chance to ask the authors your questions, live, so mark your calendars.

Here are the specifics:

TIME & DATE: Thursday, December 11th at 3PM (EST)

TOPIC: First Book in a Series

WHERE:

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/stations/AuthorsOnAir/TheBeyond/2008/12/11/First-Book-in-a-Series

Listen and discuss how to set up your world and characters when writing your first book in a series (and the ones that come afterward). Join FFF authors Jenna Black, Jeaniene Frost, Patrice Michelle, Jeanne Stein, and Rachel Vincent with Eos Executive Editor, Diana Gill for this lively exchange.

HOW: Go to the link above to listen to the show from your computer at 3pm eastern on Thursday. Or you can call (347) 826-9684 to listen from your phone and ask questions live during the show.

Also, if you take the above link now, you can set a reminder for yourself, so you don't accidentally miss the broadcast. I hope to see you there!

Okay, I'm finally finished moving, though I wouldn't quite describe myself as truly settled yet. But thanks to an extraordinary effort this weekend, #1 and I got most of the boxes unpacked. Except for those in the garage and the master closet. But since my work stuff, my clothes, and my kitchen are in order, I'm officially calling myself a Louisiana resident.

And, even better, after several attempts, we finally found a good Mexican restaurant, which is a huge relief. It has long been my habit to bounce plot ideas off #1 over a double platter of fajitas. For a while after the move, I was afraid I might have to switch over to Cajun food, and as much as I like Etouffee, I hate to think what the change in tradition would do to my creative process. ;-)

Anyway, tomorrow I will be announcing an ARC giveaway on my blog (at last!), so if you're interested, be sure to check in. And since the release of Pride is now less than two months away, I'll be spending a lot more time online, trying to balance promotion with writing the rough draft of the fifth werecat book and edits for my YAs.

Also, I'm hearing now that My Soul to Take is now fairly firmly scheduled now for September 1, 2009, so that's good to know. I'll announce the new dates for the rest of the series when I hear them... ;-)

Look what came in the mail yesterday!

Yup ARCs of Pride! So, how can you get one? If you belong to my discussion group, go check out the Pride section. If not, feel free to join. Or, you can wait until next week when I'll be giving away another one on my blog.

Last week I finished the rough draft of my third (as yet unnamed) young adult novel. It ran a little long and still needs to be polished, of course--thus the "rough" part of "rough draft"--but I'm pleased with how it went.

This week I'll be doing line edits for Prey (July 1, 2009) and packing, because next week # 1 and I will be moving from our current home in Oklahoma, where we've been for eleven years, to Louisiana. We've known about the move for several months and have already bought a house in our new town, but we won't actually move into it until the third week of November. Assuming we actually get all our stuff packed. Moving is turning out to be much, much harder than writing a book. ;-)

What this means for readers is this:

A. I won't be available for online chatting as much in the next two weeks as I usually am.

And...

B. My current PO box address will no longer be valid after this week, so if you have something to send me (including books to be signed) please give me a couple of weeks to get settled into the new house and signed up for a new PO box.

Other than that, I have only one more piece of news: the release dates for my young adult books are no longer firm. My publisher is doing some shuffling with their new (forthcoming) young adult line, and I don't have the new dates yet, but I expect the first one (My Soul to Take) to stay the same, or nearly the same. And I'll announce the second and third dates as soon as I hear what they are.
