The Latest...

I have a new discussion group! As much as I love the Yahoo group, I've been lurking on a fellow author's Proboards discussion group for a while now, and I love the set up. It's so very easy to find what I'm looking for, and it keeps the different subjects well-divided, which makes it easier for me to avoid missing questions and comments directed to me.

I'll keep both groups live for about a month, to ease the transition, but then I'll be closing the Yahoo group and continuing with the new discussion group.

And, to sweeten the pot, if you sign up and introduce yourself in the Introduction thread (found in the General Board heading) before 11:59 pm (central) on Tuesday, June 17, you'll be automatically entered to win a signed Kelley Armstrong hardback.

Click here to check it out!

Also, I've been officially cleared to announce that Pride is scheduled to hit the shelves on Feb. 1, 2009, and Prey is tentatively scheduled for July 1, 2009. That's a double dose of werecats in 2009. I'm excited already!

There's a new interview up at the Lux blog, and it includes a hint at what's to come in Pride, the third werecat book, so definitely worth reading.

On Monday I finished the revisions for Pride and will be turning it in as soon as I've heard back from my Spanish Language expert to make sure I'm not slaughtering those sections of dialogue. I took French in high school and college, and as much as I enjoyed those classes, I haven't had much chance to practice since graduating. ;-)

I'm currently in the last round of rewrites (hopefully) of the fourth werecat book, in preparation to turn it in very soon now. After that, I'll be starting MY SOUL TO SAVE, the second book in my new Young Adult contract. Also up for this summer are revisions of MY SOUL TO TAKE, the first in the series.

It'll be a busy summer, but I've also got several giveaways planned, so keep an eye on the contest page!

Wow, it's been a while since I updated. Sorry about that. But honestly, while I've been very busy working, there isn't really anything I can show off yet.

Last week, however, I got a glimpse of an early version of the cover for Pride, the third book in the series. Hopefully soon I'll have a copy I can show off.

I'm currently buried in deadlines, which is a good thing, because a busy Rachel is a happy Rachel, and at this rate, I should be ecstatic for the remainder of the year. ;-)

I've been polishing up the fourth werecat book, currently titled PREY, in preparation to turn it in, but am about to take a break from that to do the revisions for Pride, which should be out early in 2009. As soon as I get the all clear, I'll post the back cover copy (synopsis) for it on the books page.

Hopefully I'll have more news soon, including an official release date for Pride and an official title for the series!

The last few weeks have been crazy, and I apologize for not posting sooner. But now the announcements have piled up, so here goes...

During the second week of April, my amazing literary agent sold my newest book, a young adult urban fantasy called MY SOUL TO TAKE, to Mary-Theresa Hussey, my editor at Mira Books, as the first in a trilogy. These new books are very close to my heart, and the represent a step in a new direction, both for me and for Mira. They're my first YA novels, and will be among the first published in Mira's upcoming young adult line.

I don't have a lot of details yet, but I'll announce release dates and final titles as soon as I get them.

But I want to note here that I am not giving up writing for adults. My werecat series will stand complete at six books, two of which are on the shelves, and another two of which are already written. (Well, I'm almost done with that fourth one. ;-) ) I'll be writing the young adult books in addition to the adult novels, not instead of them.

Also, I spent most of last week at the Romantic Times 2008 convention and have now posted pictures in a new album on the photos page.

There's a new book-and-chocolate contest going on on my blog. It's short-term, so I'm not going to put it on the contest page, but for details on how to enter, click here. And please stay tuned, because I snagged signed copies of several urban fantasy books at the RT convention, and I'll be giving those away one at a time over the next few weeks.

Okay, that's it for now. I promise it won't be so long between updates from now on. ;-)

I found out last night that in a couple of weeks, Rogue will appear on the New York Times extended bestseller list at #32! This is absolutely amazing, and I cannot thank the readers enough. But I can try.

Thanks so much to everyone who bought Rogue! I can't tell you what all the enthusiasm means to me, and I hope you enjoy future volumes just as well!

Rogue is out! If you haven't been able to find it before, you should be able to now, all over the US and Canada. And if you live in Australia, check out Rendezvous or Rosemary’s Romance Books.

Also, the contest page has been updated with the release day contest.
